American small town: Morton, Washington

While, Mari is off at an organic farm for a month to commune with vegetables, I’m back in the U.S. visiting my hometown of Morton, Washington, population less than 1100, home of the Loggers’ Jubilee. (This is also Bigfoot country.)

I walked to the post office yesterday and tried to take photos of the town. I wasn’t eager to look like the digicam-toting tourist that I am, so I didn’t capture much local flavor in my lens. I’ll have to be more bold on the next outing.

Burned alien on the sidewalk, probably left from the Fourth of July.

  1. Ricky,
How long are you going to be in Morton? We missed you at the July 4th bbq at Melody’s – we had 3 kinds of meat and the obligatory vegetables!

  2. I thought I was the only one from a small town in Washington… well, not really. Benton City seems to have grown to twice that of Morton. And it’s on the East side of the state in the Desert. You make me want to go back and visit… I’ll be looking forward to more Small Town Photos!

  3. Nice pic. Can’t wait to see Logger’s Jubilee this year. I may take a kayak there, maybe mess around in a lake. I hate taking them in freshwater though– makes the wood rot!
