Recommended: Michio no ramen

We ran out of rice earlier this week, and we didn’t go shopping today because of the rain, so tonight was (packaged) ramen night. And it tasted GREAT.

San Francisco roommates Amy and Lisa introduced me years ago to Tung-yut (Tung-I) and Sapporo Ichiban instant ramen, but I now prefer Michio Kawamura. Not only is his picture on the wrapper — and from the looks of the guy he must be a ramen geek — but the flavor is excellent. I’ve tried shio (salt), shoyu (soy sauce) and miso. Miso is best. But it was really Michio’s face that won me over.

Also important: we added bok choy, enoki and cabbage on top. Not boiled but stir-fried. I didn’t know packaged ramen could be so good.
