Food Incentives

What is blog-worthy? I’ve been entertaining the idea that anything I write here is important. Or that even if it’s not important, I’ll write about it anyway. Maybe writing it makes it important.

1: After last night’s show, Mari rode home on her bicycle. I don’t have a bike, so I was left to walking and catching what few buses were still running. The trip home was long and rainy. Halfway through, I decided that at the end of my journey, I’d reward myself by stopping at 7-Eleven for chocolate bread.

2: I’ve caught something. My throat has been getting sore, and I’ve been telling Mari this with a mixture of pride and self-pity. This morning she steeped me some roasted tea with spiked with shards of ginger. It reminded me of my friend Ann’s lemon ginger brew. When you drink it — so corrosively potent — the zing in your throat makes you believe that it must be working, and you wonder why you only drink it when you’re sick.
