We hopped on our bikes to catch lunch at a nearby soba shop on Higashioji-dori. Cups of green tea, cold sake, hot soba water. Studying a pamphlet about basic health insurance.

So do you read/speak Japanese now? I’m really very impressed. The hardest language I’ve ever taken was Polish – I didn’t even have to learn a new alphabet, but I never could get the hang of it very well.
Ah well…. the photo and caption might be a little misleading. Mari is reading the pamphlet and translating for me.
My Beginners Level C Japanese class meets three times a week. I can read (slowly) the syllabaries — hiragana and katakana. And more than few kanji, but far fewer than we’ve studied…. I am a mediocre student so far.
Ask me again next year, then you can be impressed!
Ha-Ha! Married guy looking at insurance. You sell-out!
Sell-out? No, no, it’s all for the Revolution. You have to fight the System from deep inside its belly…
The boring old guy persona I’ve been cultivating hides a devastatingly non-lethal, world-shaking, Soy Bomb radical.
What a pleasant suprise to see such a flurry of updates! I hope that all is well with You and that being said: Get back to work. (^_^)
