A friendly group of guests joined Mari and me for our evening-viewing-of-autumn leaves + dinner-party event last night. We walked down the street to Enkoji temple, where a slowly shifting composition of lights and music highlighted the cool greens and fiery oranges-reds of the japanese maples (momiji) in the garden.
Back at home, everyone squeezed into our little living room to share each others’ company and Mari’s cooking.
Big thanks to all the guests, whose generous donations will benefit children in the Chittagong hill country of Bangladesh.
Special guest Nils has posted some eloquent description and great photos at his venerable blog, Alive in Kyoto.
Photos (left to right): lights and leaves at Enkoji, plenty of food for all, sharing baby photos and video on ketai denwa.

Hey Rick,
I didn’t notice you taking this third picture, or maybe I did and forgot already ๐
It was a (nice) surprise to find myself in your blog, although this is not the first time.
I wanted to write an e-mail to you, but I will take advantage of this post and tell you here ๐
I updated my home page, I am posting the URL here. Also, my British fellow agreed to the karaoke night, so we need to fix the time and place to tell him.
Cheers,
Carlos
Thanks again for the fun, and now I’ve found Carlos’ website.
Hey, Carlos. Yeah, I have a way of sneaking photos of people from behind. Thanks for your URL. I love how in the gallery I can watch Carlito grow up just by scrolling the photo thumbnails to the right. Maybe when he’s a teenager you can have an 18-year string of photos.
Looking forward to that karaoke. There’s a place near the game center just down Shirakawa-dori that we might want to try…

Hey, Nils. Thanks again for being part of the fun. Here’s to future gatherings! Next dinner party here, I’ll do some Filipino cooking.
Speaking of fun, would you happen to be an Xbox/Halo 2 fan? It’s more than just shooting at things, really.
